About This Route

A quick look at the problem, the direction taken, and the destination achieved.

Client

A.W. Hastings / Marvin Windows and Doors — representing Marvin to architects, builders, and contractors at the Build Boston trade show.

Role

Lead Designer & Art Director — responsible for visual concept, environmental graphics, supporting materials, and coordination with internal teams and external vendors for the Build Boston presence.

Challenge

Build Boston brought together architects, builders, and specifiers looking for products that combine performance, aesthetics, and reliability. A.W. Hastings and Marvin needed a booth presence that:

  • Stood out on a crowded show floor.
  • Clearly communicated Marvin’s premium positioning and product story.
  • Equipped sales reps with tools to start conversations and capture qualified leads.

The challenge was to design an experience that felt elevated and architectural, while remaining practical for installation, traffic flow, and real-time sales conversations.

Approach

Experience-First Concept
Designed the booth around a simple idea: Marvin as a trusted partner in creating light-filled, beautifully detailed spaces. This guided decisions about imagery, messaging, and layout so the environment felt more like a gallery than a hardware display.

Cohesive Visual System
Developed a visual system that tied together:

  • Large-format wall graphics and product vignettes.
  • Header signage and directional elements for easy wayfinding.
  • Supporting pieces such as product one-sheets, takeaways, and lead cards.

The goal was to keep everything clearly branded, legible from a distance, and consistent with Marvin’s premium identity.

Sales-Ready Tools
Created print materials that reps could use directly in conversations with architects and builders:

  • Product and feature one-sheets aligned to the key lines being promoted at the show.
  • Simple, visual overviews that made it easy to discuss performance, options, and applications without overwhelming visitors.

Vendor & Production Coordination
Collaborated with external fabricators, printers, and internal stakeholders to ensure that:

  • Graphics were produced at the correct scale, resolution, and materials.
  • Colors and finishes aligned with the Marvin brand.
  • The booth installed smoothly and held up over the duration of the show.

Integrated Campaign Support
Aligned the trade show graphics with other A.W. Hastings / Marvin initiatives—so materials used at Build Boston could also support dealer visits, lunch-and-learns, and follow-up outreach after the event.

Outcome

Reinforced A.W. Hastings’ role as a regional marketing and distribution leader, capable of producing trade show experiences that matched the level of the products they represented.

Delivered a visually cohesive booth environment that clearly communicated the Marvin brand to architects, builders, and specifiers.

Equipped sales reps with focused, on-brand tools that supported real-time conversations and post-show follow-up.

Strengthened Marvin’s presence at Build Boston as a premium, architect-friendly partner with both design sensibility and technical depth.
